Food Club® hosts Boy Band Bake-Off to celebrate 80 years

Lance Bass of *NSYNC and A.J. McLean of the Backstreet Boys compete for donation to Feeding America

Itasca, Illinois, October 7, 2025 – As part of its 80th anniversary celebration, the Food Club brand recently held a Boy Band Bake-Off featuring Lance Bass—multi-platinum GRAMMY® winner of boy band *NSYNC—and A.J. McLean—member of the eight-time GRAMMY®-nominated music group Backstreet Boys—battling it out in the kitchen for the title of Best Boy Band Baker.

The bake-off challenged the stars to utilize Food Club ingredients to bake and decorate cakes to match notable album covers from the other musician’s career; Bass recreating the cover for BSB’s “Millennium” and McLean emulating the cover of *NSYNC’s “No Strings Attached.” Fans voted for their favorite cake through social media channels, though ultimately both were declared winners, with each earning a donation in their name to Food Club partner Feeding America.

“Partnering with Food Club was a no-brainer,” said Bass. “I grew up with Food Club providing for my family and community. I can still picture, smell, and taste those moments that felt like home. Everyone deserves that same access to good food, and I am proud to play a part in making that possible.”

In addition to the Boy Band Bake-off, Food Club has been celebrating throughout the year with an unprecedented partnership with Feeding America, in addition to DreamWorks Animation.

Bass has previously worked with Food Club, appearing on the Today Show this past summer to talk about the partnership. He also enlisted the help of a special DreamWorks character to help him make a dessert from his mother’s recipe using Food Club ingredients.

McLean added, “When Lance called, I said yes right away. But once I learned about Food Club’s partnership with Feeding America, I knew I had to jump in. It is the perfect way to give back and have fun doing it. And honestly, I will never pass up a chance to beat Lance.”

Food Club’s partnership with Feeding America includes a 5-million meal donation* to help end hunger in regional communities across the nation where this exclusive store brand is available. The brand wants to inspire, influence and impact the nation’s largest hunger relief organization, committed to an America where no one is hungry.
